Nanette (Nan) J. Bulger

Nan Bulger is currently Co-Executive Director of SAICI, a microsociety within the American Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AIAI). With over four decades of experience across diverse industries, she has held influential positions, including pivotal roles at Symbolics, Inc. in Cambridge, MA (1980s)—an early leader in Artificial Intelligence—and Fuld & Company, a top competitive intelligence firm of the 1990s. As CEO of SCIP (Strategic & Competitive Intelligence Professionals), she spent five years broadening its analytical approaches and outreach, notably introducing artificial intelligence concepts to SCIP through collaboration with AIAI in the mid-2000s and the development of worldwide SCIP University Certification and Mentoring Programs.

Nan’s career reflects her extensive global work in both private and non-profit sectors, where she has excelled as a product development engineer, executive strategist, marketer, transformation consultant, and non-profit CEO. Her expertise covers domestic and international markets in business and government, involving suppliers and agencies, with notable engagements in multinational healthcare, medical devices, computers, financial transformation, education, animal health, and a range of other B2B and B2C industries.

Renowned for her ability to drive change and cultivate relationships, Nan has the ability to engage stakeholders at every organizational level. She brings a wealth of hands-on leadership in areas such as business and competitive intelligence, analytics, finance transformation, strategic planning, portfolio management, M&A due diligence, bankruptcy recoveries, IRAD market studies, Price to Win methodologies, and developing targeted sales and marketing strategies for growth. Her achievements include delivering successful projects for prominent international organizations like Société Générale (Paris), Fidelity Investments, Moody's Investments, Lockheed Martin, SAIC (as VP), Shire Pharmaceuticals, Covidien Medtronic, Philips Healthcare, Millipore, ThermoKing, Microvasive, Rolls Royce (UK) and Olympus. Furthermore, she has led teams and established new divisions for companies such as Crabtree & Evelyn Cosmetics.

Nanette is also a distinguished speaker and author on STEM and business subjects, having published internationally in at least five languages. She has written chapters for The Art of Intelligence series and been featured in leading publications including the Business Section of El Pais (Madrid), China Daily, Competitive Intelligence Review, USA Today, and the NH Business Review. Her lectures span six continents, and she taught Strategic Competitive Intelligence for twelve years at the University of Rey Juan Carlos Center for Intelligence Services in Madrid.

Nan’s service includes advisory roles with the SCIP Board of Advisors, NCCU School of Business Board of Advisors—the first U.S. state-funded university for African Americans, the NH YWCA Board of Directors, and the Portsmouth Submarine and Maritime Association-USS Albacore.

Her academic background includes a B.S. in Environmental Science (Physics minor) from Bridgewater University, an MBA in Strategy and Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University, and an advanced Executive Long Program Certificate in Strategic Risk and Uncertainty from MIT.

Nanette contributed her historical passion, expertise, and leadership to the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. She is Executive Director at The Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden Museum, honoring Revolutionary War heritage, and Vice President of the BOD,  USS Albacore - Portsmouth Submarine and Maritime Association (PSMA), in New Hampshire. Nan is joining AIAI as Co-Executive Director of SAICI and looks forward to advancing AI applications in a number of industries including the museum sector.
